What CIPCAL is used for?
It is used
- For maintaining healthy bones and teeth
- To maintain levels of the vitamin in your body
- To treat and prevent calcium deficiency
- To treat certain bone conditions, for example osteoporosis
- In patients undergoing kidney dialysis to remove excess phosphate from the blood
Warning & Precautions
Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine, if you:
- Are allergic to Cholecalciferol or Calcium carbonate or any other ingredient of this medicine
- Have high levels of vitamin D in your blood (hypervitaminosis D)
- Have a condition that causes excessive amounts of calcium in your blood or urine (hypercalcaemia or hypercalciuria)
- Have or have had kidney stones and kidney problem
- Have osteoporosis (brittle bones) and are also unable to move around
- Have cancer or any other conditions that may have affected your bones
Interactions
Tell your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken or might take any other medicines such as:
- Digoxin,medicine used to treat Heart conditions
- Phenytoin medicine used to treat Epilepsy
- Barbiturates medicines used to treat Sleep disturbance
- Paraffin oil for Constipation
- Cholesterol lowering medicines (e.g. cholestyramine)
- Glucocorticoids often used to treat allergies or asthma (e.g. hydrocortisone, prednisolone)
- Bendroflumethiazid, used in the treatment of hypertension
- Vitamin D
- Tetracycline, Quinolone
- Levothyroxine (hormone used to treat thyroid deficiency)
- Bisphosphonates
- Iron, zinc and strontium ranelate
Directions & For Use
- Take this medication as directed by your doctor
If you take more CIPCAL
- If you take more CIPCAL contact your doctor immediately
If you forget to take CIPCAL
- Take it as soon as possible. Do not take a double dose
If you stop taking CIPCAL
- Consult your doctor before you stop taking this medication
Side Effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
- Allergic reaction
- Increase level of calcium in your blood

- Keep out of the reach of children
- Do not use after expiry date
- Store at room temperature (15-25ºC)
