Pacitane Tablet should be taken empty stomach as it reduces the side effects of this medicine. It should be taken at the same time each day, this helps to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the body. Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor and if you have missed a dose, take it as soon as you remember. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. It is important that this medication is not stopped suddenly without talking to the doctor as it may result in a worsening of symptoms.
Some common side effects of this medicine include nausea, vomiting, constipation, and blurred vision. It even causes dizziness and sleepiness, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you. Dry mouth may occur commonly while using this medicine so, try to do frequent mouth rinses, maintain good oral hygiene, and increase water intake. Avoid wearing contact lenses as it may cause dry eyes as well. It is important to inform your doctor if you suffer from glaucoma or have trouble in passing urine.

HOW TO COPE WITH SIDE EFFECTS?
The occurrence of side effects varies from person to person. The following are a few ways of dealing with some of the common side effects. However, consult your doctor if these persist.
Coping with Dryness in mouthKeep a drink available that you can sip through the day. Rinse your mouth with warm salted water and chew sugarless gum or hard candy. Try breathing through your nose more often than your mouth. Avoid caffeinated beverages, smoking and alcohol because they can make your condition worse. Use lip balm if your lips are also dry. Try to avoid foods that are acidic (like lemons), spicy, salty or sugary. If this side effect bothers you or does not go away, talk to your doctor about artificial saliva products or other suitable treatments.

Eat bananas to replace potassium in your blood which can drop if you are sick (vomit). Use oral rehydration salts to replace vitamins and minerals lost through being sick. If your condition does not improve, you can ask your doctor to prescribe you laxative medicine.
Coping with Blurred visionYou can consider washing your eyes with water. Avoid driving or using tools or machines if your vision is impaired. Do not take your next dose if your vision is still blurry. If it gets worse or does not improve, ask your doctor to recommend eye drops or talk about changing your medications.
Coping with DizzinessThis is usually short-lived and should go away within a few days. If this happens, stop what you are doing and sit or lie down until you feel better. Lying still in a dark, quiet room may help reduce the spinning feeling. Sleep with your head slightly raised on two or more pillows. Get up slowly from a lying or sitting position. Get plenty of rest and try to relax as being anxious can make it worse. Try taking this medicine at bedtime to reduce the symptoms. Drinking plenty of water and ginger tea may also help. Avoid alcohol, caffeine and smoking as it will make you feel worse. Avoid driving or using tools or machinery until you feel better.
Coping with Upset stomachTry taking your medicine with a meal or snack, or shortly after eating. It might help to eat smaller and more frequent meals, and to eat and drink slowly. Avoid foods which can irritate your stomach such as carbonated soft drinks, caffeine, fatty and spicy foods, mints and citrus fruits. Quit smoking and alcohol because they increase the symptoms. Do not eat for 3 or 4 hours before going to bed. Try raising the head of your bed at night or use extra pillows. Ask your doctor or pharmacist about medicines that may help, such as antacids, if your condition does not improve.
Coping with HeadacheMake sure you rest and drink plenty of fluids. Rest in a quiet, dimly lit room. Do not sleep more than you normally would. Do not strain your eyes (for example by looking at a screen). Do not drink alcohol. Headaches are usually temporary and usually go away with time. But, if they last longer or get worse, ask your doctor to recommend a painkiller.
Coping with Difficulty in urinationRelax when you try to pee. Don’t try to force the flow of urine. If it doesn’t happen, try again later. Limit drinks that increase urination such as coffee, tea and other caffeinated beverages. Continue to drink plenty of water each day. Gentle massage and hot compression on your lower abdomen can help relax your muscles and may improve your urine flow. Doing exercises that strengthen the bladder muscles such as pelvic exercise will be of help. Distract your attention by thinking about something else. Avoid alcohol and smoking because both can aggravate the condition. Talk to your doctor urgently if you can not pee at all.
Coping with NervousnessThis often disappears when the condition you are being treated for is managed. You could ask your doctor about changing the dose of your medicine or alternatives if it is affecting your daily life or causing you distress. Psychological treatments may be available. Some things you can do to help yourself include stopping smoking, cutting down the amount of alcohol and caffeine you drink, and doing regular exercise. You should also eat a healthy diet and find out how to get sleep if you are having trouble. Try talking to a friend or family member. Calming breathing exercises and other relaxation techniques may also help.
