INTRODUCTION
Urimax D Tablet MR is a combination of two medicines which work in different ways to treat men with an enlarged prostate gland. It helps to relieve symptoms such as difficulty urinating or needing to go to the toilet more often. It is not used to prevent prostate cancer.
Urimax D Tablet MR may be taken with or without food but it should be taken at the same time each day. Your doctor will prescribe the dose most suitable for you. To gain the most benefit and to treat your symptoms effectively, you should not miss doses, even if you feel well. It may take up to 4 weeks to notice an improvement in the symptoms but keep taking them regularly. Tell your doctor if your symptoms do not improve after 4 weeks or if they get worse.
The most common side effects of this medicine include reduced sex drive, inability to get an erection (impotence) and tenderness or enlargement of your breasts. If these side effects worry you or do not go away, call your doctor for advice. You may also feel dizzy or drowsy. These risks are higher when you first start taking this drug. Remember, your doctor has given you this medicine because the benefits are greater than the risks of the side effects.
Urimax D Tablet MR should not be taken by women or children. Before taking it, tell your doctor if you have low blood pressure or liver or kidney disease. This medicine may not be suitable. It can also affect, or be affected by, other drugs. So let your doctor know all the other medicines you are taking. You may be advised to wear a condom during sex, if your partner is or may be pregnant. Your doctor may recommend getting your blood pressure checked frequently. Avoid drinking alcohol as it can cause excessive dizziness with this medicine.

HOW TO COPE WITH SIDE EFFECTS?
The occurrence of side effects varies from person to person. The following are a few ways of dealing with some of the common side effects. However, consult your doctor if these persist.
-
Coping with Impotence and Ejaculation disorderSpeak to your doctor as they may be able to change your medicine or offer other treatments that might help with the problem. Making healthy lifestyle changes and eating a healthy balanced diet can help. Lose weight if you are overweight. Exercise daily and try to reduce stress and anxiety. Avoid the use of alcohol, cigarettes or recreational drugs such as marijuana which can also affect sexual function. Counselling or psychotherapy can also be helpful.
-
Coping with Decreased libidoIf you experience this side effect, talk to your doctor. They may be able to reduce your dose or change your medication. In general, healthy lifestyle changes such as eating a healthy diet and keeping a healthy weight can make a big difference. Regular exercise can increase your stamina, lift your mood and boost your libido. Find ways of coping with stress such as meditation or relaxation techniques. Avoid smoking and drinking alcohol, as they can lower your sex drive.
-
Coping with Breast painUse hot or cold compresses on your breasts. You could try some pain-relieving creams or gels. Wear bras which fit well. Wear a soft support bra when you sleep and a good sports bra when you are exercising. Avoid consuming caffeinated drinks as it can increase the discomfort. Limit your salt intake as it contributes to water retention which causes pain and swelling. Talk to your doctor because in many cases, it is possible to treat breast pain with over-the-counter medicines.
-
Coping with DizzinessThis is usually short-lived and should go away within a few days. If this happens, stop what you are doing and sit or lie down until you feel better. Lying still in a dark, quiet room may help reduce the spinning feeling. Sleep with your head slightly raised on two or more pillows. Get up slowly from a lying or sitting position. Get plenty of rest and try to relax as being anxious can make it worse. Try taking this medicine at bedtime to reduce the symptoms. Drinking plenty of water and ginger tea may also help. Avoid alcohol, caffeine and smoking as it will make you feel worse. Avoid driving or using tools or machinery until you feel better.
